There seems to be an inchoate national movement of civic-minded folks donning colorful outfits and patrolling their localities to fight crime.
The "Black Monday Society" of Salt Lake City is quite active. (I might be hellishly behind the times here, they've been in the news for about a year. But it still blew my mind.)
